Saanich Carbon Champions

Carbon Champions

We’ve committed to reducing community Greenhouse Gas emissions by 33% by 2020 (from 2007 levels) but we can’t do it alone. We need your help!

The majority of community GHG’s in Saanich come from:

  • transportation (62%)
  • buildings (31%)
  • waste (7%)

The District has supported and led a variety of community projects in an effort to reduce community GHG’s including:

  • Establishing a food growing and preservation program, Communities in Harvest;
  • Working with residents to install more energy efficient and alternative energy sources in their homes; and
  • Funding innovative community projects through our Sustainability Grants.

Community members such as Rob Bernhardt, Karen Jawl and the Knaggs family are working towards making our community vibrant, healthy and sustainable.

Are you doing something in your daily life to make your community a better place to live? Tell us about it!

Would you like to be more involved in Sustainability Initiatives in your community?

Have an idea you think would make Saanich a more livable place for generations to come?
