Saanich Carbon Champions
We’ve committed to reducing community Greenhouse Gas emissions by 33% by 2020 (from 2007 levels) but we can’t do it alone. We need your help!
The majority of community GHG’s in Saanich come from:
- transportation (62%)
- buildings (31%)
- waste (7%)
The District has supported and led a variety of community projects in an effort to reduce community GHG’s including:
- Establishing a food growing and preservation program, Communities in Harvest;
- Working with residents to install more energy efficient and alternative energy sources in their homes; and
- Funding innovative community projects through our Sustainability Grants.
Are you doing something in your daily life to make your community a better place to live? Tell us about it!
Would you like to be more involved in Sustainability Initiatives in your community?
Have an idea you think would make Saanich a more livable place for generations to come?
