The District of Saanich is seeking an energetic and creative Licensed Preschool Instructor who will be responsible for the planning, management and instruction of the Exploring Our World Preschool Program at the Gordon Head Recreation Centre.  The successful candidate will plan, manage and implement a 10 month licensed preschool program for children ages 3-5 years, provide written and verbal communication and feedback to parents on a regular basis, and conduct ongoing program evaluations.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the philosophy and fundamentals of instruction for preschool aged children.  Requirements include completion of Grade 12 plus one year post secondary in Early Childhood Education; six months experience in program delivery for 3-5 year olds; 3 months experience in working in licensed care; minimum 19 years old in accordance with Child Care Licensing Regulations; a statement signed by a medical practitioner indicating that the person is physically and psychologically capable of working with children and carrying out assigned duties in a community care facility; evidence that the person has complied with the Province’s immunization and tuberculosis control programs;  current Emergency First-Aid and CPR Level C and a satisfactory police information check.

Under the direction of the Sergeant of the Intelligence Section, the Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the mandate of the Crime Stoppers program is fulfilled.  The mandate of the Crime Stoppers program is to receive and process anonymous tips from the public that help in the detection, apprehension and conviction of criminals and the recovery of property obtained through the commission of crimes and seizure of stolen property and illicit drugs.  The Program Coordinator will administer all aspects of the Crime Stoppers program including the receiving and processing of tip information; monitoring the police investigation; making recommendations to the Crime Stoppers Board on financial rewards to be paid out and engaging the community in order to raise awareness of the Program. Requirements include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; five years experience as a police officer or working within a police environment with appropriate knowledge of legislation and regulations pertaining to the conduct of Crime Stoppers operations, including the Criminal Code of Canada, provincial legislation, privacy legislation, records management; proficiency in interview techniques, effective note-taking, compilation of accurate and concise reports and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. The successful candidates are required to possess a valid B.C. Class 5 Drivers License and must meet all background checks, security clearances and vulnerable sector screening.
