“What is an EFP?
The Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) Program is a complimentary program that provides eligible agri-food sector producers with access to consultants (known as EFP Advisors) to assist in the completion of Environmental Farm Plans. The EFP program enhances the capacity of producers to identify opportunities to adapt and respond to emerging environmental, regenerative agriculture, and climate challenges and changing environmental conditions.”
“Farmers who have an Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) learn how to reduce agriculture’s impact on the environment. Many Environmental Farm Plan participants enjoy increased efficiency, profitability, and new customers as a result of increased environmental sustainability.”

The Minister’s Advisory Group on Regenerative Agriculture and Agritech was established in June 2022 to provide strategic advice to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food on opportunities to promote innovation, technology adoption, and regenerative practices that will increase the productivity, profitability, and sustainability of British Columbia’s food system.
In May 2023 the “Regenerative Agriculture & Agritech Can Help BC Achieve its Sustainable Agriculture Goals” report was released to deepen understanding of how regenerative agricultural practices and agritech support a sustainable approach to BC economy, environment, and social needs.
The report is guided by the following:
- Vision Statement: British Columbia’s food systems follow the principles of sustainable agriculture to continuously improve our lands, waters, and ecosystems.
- Mission: To accelerate sustainable agriculture through the implementation of regenerative agricultural practices, championing appropriate tools and agritech solutions, and fostering knowledge and technology transfer to help prepare for and mitigate climate change to ensure a food secure B.C.
The report speaks to the fundamental role of healthy ecosystems for the vitality of agriculture. The report can be found here.
