McKenzie RapidBus Corridor Study

The District of Saanich and BC Transit are undertaking the McKenzie RapidBus Corridor Study. The purpose of the study is to develop a conceptual design for a RapidBus service connection on McKenzie Avenue between Highway 17 and the University of Victoria campus.

High-capacity bus service is part of a long-term vision to develop a safe, connected and convenient transportation corridor on McKenzie Avenue that will allow people to walk, cycle and use transit more often. The conceptual design will incorporate new and improved transit stations, fully accessible active transportation infrastructure, and public realm improvements to support the development of a complete street.

What is RapidBus?

RapidBus is transit service that outperforms personal vehicles. It is frequent, fast, and reliable transit service that supports increased ridership. Compared to local bus service, RapidBus has higher passenger volumes, operates on streets designed with dedicated bus lanes and has fewer stops. RapidBus is the spine of the transit network, working in coordination with local bus service.
