Description:

The District of Saanich is seeking up to 4 visual art instructors to fill in for art programs for all ages at Cedar Hill Recreation and Arts Centre, as well as art programs and events through Community Services.  Successful candidates may also be considered for opportunities to lead other art programs and activities for youth, children and/or adults as they become available, including classes and camps in 2025. Program planning and preparation will be expected. Programs are aimed at supporting the creative process, self-expression, skill-building and the positive development of participants and the community. Successful candidates will demonstrate creativity, flexibility, strong communication skills, problem solving, technical skill in a variety of mediums and the ability to create a welcoming environment that empowers all participants.

When scheduled, the successful candidate(s) would work a minimum of 1.5 hours per week. Shift schedules are subject to change depending on operational needs. Additional shift opportunities may include days, evenings, weekends and week-long camps depending on program needs. Applicants are asked to provide their availability.

Requirements include completion of Grade 10; three months teaching experience in area of instruction; certification and training in area of instruction in accordance with Industry Standards; and a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS). Emergency First-Aid and CPR “C” certification is an asset but not required.
