Are you passionate about municipal budgets and looking for an opportunity to be a part of developing the district’s annual financial plan? The Finance Department has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Financial Planning. Under the overall direction of the Director of Finance and reporting to the Senior Manager of Financial Services, the Manager of Financial Planning will be responsible for supporting the development of departmental operating and capital budgets and coordinating the provision of financial analysis for budget monitoring and decision making. This position plays a key role in developing and leading the delivery of public engagement opportunities in the financial planning process.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Public Sector accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis, a deep understanding of budget theory, principles, and practices, and experience mentoring staff. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, works well under pressure and can positively impact the Finance team and the entire organization.
Requirements include a professional accounting designation; seven years’ experience including a minimum five years managing employees including recruitment; experience in public sector accounting and budgeting for local government as well as financial analysis. The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of computerized financial systems, particularly enterprise budget systems, and will have the ability to analyze and evaluate budgeting problems to develop and recommend solutions. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
