Description:

Come join our team for an exciting career in local government. Saanich Public Works is seeking two Operations Worker IV to join our Storm & Wastewater team. The Operations Worker IV will supervise and participate in the work of a crew carrying out installation, rehabilitation, repair, inspection and testing of Water, Wastewater, and Storm Water systems. The successful candidate will coordinate projects and schedules, develop plans, direct and work alongside of their crew. This position involves working in and around creeks/waterways and requires an understanding of environmental protocols and best management practices.

Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; EOCP Level II Certification for Wastewater Collection or Water Distribution; four years of pipefitting experience in water or wastewater systems including experience in project management and two years of experience in a supervisory capacity directly related to maintenance and/or construction work, specific to the Water or Wastewater Section; supervisory skills training; spill response training (as required); proficiency in field based GIS software; and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week) and must have versatility; manual dexterity; and sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to work in all weather conditions.

As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted.
