Main Gallery – Jasmine Hum
Solo Exhibition
Furrealism: A Contemporary Re-imagining
April 30, 2025 to May 25, 2025
About the Artwork:
Since 2010 I have been documenting the rabbitesque creature known as Silvilagus Algonquinus through written accounts, research of mythologies and folk tales, and visual representations in sketches and paintings. Although reputedly rare, through unusual good fortune and serendipity I have encountered this unique hybrid animal frequently enough to confirm it still exists today. The purpose of this exhibition is to bring together the research I have accumulated to date.
Through this public outreach,
my hope is that more individuals – young people, citizen scientists and naturalist professionals – will feel emboldened to come forward and share their insights and contributions, thus helping collectively to resolve
the enigma of The Rabbit Who Wears Others’ Coats.

Vintage Bikes at the Arts Centre
Come see several Canadian vintage road and track bikes in the Rear Gallery. British Columbia and Canada have a long tradition of excellent bike frame makers and designers. The colors, designs, specialized metals and fabrication methods result in some timeless masterpieces. The bikes are courtesy of Tim Unger owner of Straight Up Cycles with perhaps a special guest bike along the way. In the last Hallway Display Case, visitors will be seeing famous vintage bike components right up close. After having a look, we hope you will want to get going on your own bike and pedal away!
