Al Fatiha: The Opening
Voices of Muslim Women Foundation

This celebration of the creative expressions of local Muslim artists is part of a collaboration with the District of Saanich and the City of Victoria to strengthen understanding and community connection.  Al-Fatiha (The Opening) is an invitation to the communities of Victoria and Saanich to view local work along with works from private collections that explore themes of prayer, identity, belonging, resilience, spirituality and new beginnings.

Since October 2021, local Muslim
women living in Victoria have been working to address racism and discrimination through building bridges of collaboration, and creating opportunities for cultural education and expression. Their work with the District of Saanich and City of Victoria aims to increase Islamic representation and foster a greater sense of belonging in Victoria BC for Muslims.
