Mezzanine Wall Gallery
Dior Wilsher
November 27. 2024 - January 6. 2025
About the Artwork:
This set of paintings was inspired by a trip to the Raptor Centre in Duncan. I brought my family there for a weekend activity only to leave in awe and amazement. Seeing these fierce and beautiful birds up close was a unique and rare opportunity. Since that first trip I have returned numerous times and have been (very) slowly painting my way through their residents!
About the Artist:
As a youth, I enjoyed painting and studied at the Emily Carr University of Art & Design for one year and although it was fascinating, I realized that my interest lay in Art Therapy. I completed my postgrad at the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. I’ve worked most of my career in recreation in supportive living environments and witnessed the benefit art making had on my clients.

Sandy Voldeng
November 27. 2024 - January 6. 2025
About the Artwork:
All my sculptures are figurative and hand-built from clay. I love the human form with all its imperfections. The only common theme is each piece is borne out of a feeling that is important to me. I hope my representations will trigger similar emotions in the hearts of viewers and thus give them life.
About the Artist:
Sandy Voldeng has been sculpting for over 20 years. She is a long-standing exhibitor at the Greater Victoria Art Gallery. Her work has also been exhibited at juried events at Victoria Arts Council’s Gallery, TCAC Sculptor’s Splash, and the Sooke Fine Arts Show. She is a member of the Vancouver Island Sculptors Guild, Arc-Hive Artist Run Centre, and the Gage Gallery.

Megan Evans
November 27. 2024 - January 6. 2025
About the Artwork:
My creative process begins in nature where I’m inspired by sunshine glistening on the water, unique cloud formations, a foggy cluster of trees or a vast array of wildlife. Inspiration comes also when I meditate or enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in the morning sun. Ideas strike almost at random, and I envision images in my mind before attempting to put them on canvas.
About the Artist:
Megan creates vibrantly colorful works on canvas that evoke emotion and inspire joy through acrylic mediums. She relishes adding her own unique touch to abstract cityscapes, figurative abstracts, animals, flowers and landscapes. As an artist living in Sooke, British Columbia, Megan draws inspiration from nature and currently teaches advanced art to youth at Amber Academy.
