When: April 20th, 11 am – 3 pm
Where: 770 Vernon Ave, behind Municipal Hall
How to get here: Come by bike if you can! The event is just off of the Lochside Trail. Valet bike parking provided by The Locker. BC Transit buses 70, 71, 72 and 75 all stop just outside of Municipal Hall and we will have limited vehicle parking on the north side of the parking lot.
What is the event all about?
The Saanich Earth Day Festival is all about everyday sustainability. It is a chance to celebrate our planet, fight against climate change, and learn about everyday ways we can lessen our impact on the Earth as a community and as individuals. Come to the event to learn about small changes you can make in your life that will have a big impact on our climate. From composting and pollinator gardens to heat pumps and e bikes, there will be something for everyone.
Bring the family to the festival to listen to live music by local musicians, visit the vendor village, get lunch from the food trucks, and sign up for a beeswax wrap workshop, and play with the interactive elements.
What is there to do?
There's lots to do for the whole family!
Beeswax Wrap Workshop
Registration is now OPEN!
Ditch the single-use plastic, and start using beeswax wraps to keep your veggies, sandwiches, and leftovers fresh! We're working with Goldilocks Goods to present a make-your-own beeswax wrap workshop. Participants will learn about the benefits of beeswax wraps, how they're made and how to care for them, and will get to make their own wrap to take away. Registration is per wrap created, not per person. If a guardian and child wish to make a wrap together, that would be a single registration with a maximum of three participants per wrap. The cost is $12/wrap created + applicable taxes. Space is limited, so register early. Same-day registration will be available if space permits.
How to register
Register for workshops via ActiveNet: Activity search | RecOnline (activecommunities.com). There are four workshop times available. Search for the activity by keyword "beeswax" or using the applicable activity code.

Live Music
Powered by pedal power, the Earth Day Festival stage will feature local musicians who highlight environmental issues and promote sustainability through their music.
11:00 am - Nick Mintenko
12:30 pm - Penny Belle
2:00 pm - Kele Fleming
If you're keen, you can even hop onto one of the stationary bike from Tune Your Ride, and pedal to power up the stage, no spandex or padded shorts needed.
Kids' Bike Skills Course
Whether your kids are on strider bikes or pedal bikes, they can try out a bike skills course for free with Capital Bike. Capital Bike staff will help kids gain confidence with safe bike handling, including turning and corners, stopping safely, pedaling technique and more.
Button Booth
Make your own free Saanich Earth Day button! Colour the button template or make your own free-form design, and watch staff turn your drawing into wearable art. This art activity is open to everyone, although we ask that people limit themselves to one button/person. Available while supplies last.
Earth Day Art Activity
Led by an art instructor, anyone can join this free Earth Day themed activity. Make your own beautiful natural landscape from a compostable paste and found materials like twigs, leaves, pebbles, sand and shells, displayed on a compostable plate as a base.
