Join us at McMinn Park [PDF - 189 KB] to help plant new trees as part of our annual Tree Appreciation Day event!
22 trees will be planted along the pathway and surrounding the new bike park/pump track. Help Saanich staff: dig holes, plant, stake, cage and mulch a mix of Red Maples, California Incense Cedar, Katsura, Tulip, Persian Ironwood, London Plane and Scarlet and Red Oaks.
We will also be planting native trees, shrubs and ferns along a section of Galey Brook and Pond at the south end of McMinn Park. You can help staff plant about 60 Western-red Cedars and Red Alders trees and about 350 Sword fern, Snowberry, Salmonberry, Dull Oregon grape, Red-flowering Currant, and Tall Oregon grape.
Parking is available along Maple Grove and the north side of Lochside.
It will be a great chance to connect with your neighbours and do something positive for the environment during this community based effort.
Tools and training will be provided for participants. We look forward to seeing you there.
Sign up in advance by reaching us at parks@saanch.ca or 250-475-5522. Participation is limited to 50 members of the public.
