For Immediate Release 

 

Saanich, BC - Please be advised that Wilkinson Road from Mann Avenue to Greenlea Drive will be closed to the public July 12, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the exception of local traffic access.

Motorist, pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to plan for an alternative route that day to avoid the area if possible. 

• The road closure is necessary to allow for the installation of a set of steel stairs on the west side of the Wilkinson bridge.
• The steel stairs will provide connection from the Colquitz River trail to Wilkinson Road.

Our construction team opted to delay this portion of the work until the summer due to environmental considerations around fish habitat, to reduce the delay in opening the road to the public and to avoid additional cost implications. 

Please be advised that in addition to the closure, minor delays beginning today and continuing until July 20, 2017 may be in effect. We kindly as the public to be aware and obey traffic control personnel. We appreciate the public’s continued patience.
