Park ambassadors ready to greet Mount Douglas Park visitors
May 18, 2018
Saanich, BC – Nine new park ambassadors are ready to welcome park visitors in time for the May long weekend. The District of Saanich, in partnership with the Friends of Mount Douglas Park, recruited ambassadors this spring as part of a new park ambassador pilot project.
Park ambassadors will offer natural and cultural history about Mount Douglas Park to enhance visitor experience. Ambassadors will share information about how the public can help protect one of the region’s most recognizable natural treasures. Public education plays an important role in protecting the diverse ecosystems and biodiversity found in Saanich’s largest and busiest park.
The enthusiastic volunteers will hike the park trails during park hours on a daily basis until September 2018. They can be easily identified by their black and yellow high visibility vests and park ambassador ball hats.
If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, it’s not too late. Volunteer recruitment is open until June 15. Learn more by contacting Saanich Parks at 250-475-5522 or park.admin@saanich.ca or by visiting saanich.ca.
