Road work near McKenzie to affect water pressure for residents and businesses
May 30, 2018
Water Infrastructure upgrades on McKenzie Avenue requires the water to be shut down for several hours Tuesday, June 5, 2018 starting at 9 a.m.
Water will be shut down on McKenzie Avenue between Saanich Road and Quadra Street and the 3900 block of Saanich Road. Due to this shutdown, the 800 and 900 blocks of McKenzie Avenue and 4000 block of Rainbow Street and Rainbow Cresent will be at lower pressure for several hours. Residents unsure if this applies to them can view a map of the affected properties in the area.
Due to changing water pressures, residents and busineses may experience some discoloured water as water system adjusts to changing pressures. Waterworks crews will do some gentle flushing on roads at that time to try and limit any discoloured water as a result of changing water pressures.
Water pressure should be returned to normal by 3 p.m.
Anyone experiencing discoloured water are advised to flush an outside hose bib or their bathtub for 10 minutes to clear up any discoloured water that may have been pulled into the water service line.
