Liquor licence changes at Cedar Hill Golf Course 

Currently, the District of Saanich holds two licences for the Cedar Hill Golf Course: a Liquor Primary Licence for the clubhouse facility and the playable golf course; and a Food Primary Licence for the clubhouse facility only.

Saanich has applied to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch to consolidate both licences into one Liquor Primary Licence for the clubhouse facility and playable golf course, and to extend the Liquor Primary Licence to include the outdoor patio. This change will eliminate the need for a Food Primary Licence. 

This change will bring our licences up to date with current regulations. We will have improved flexibility with a Liquor Primary Licence covering the entire facility and course.

Service delivery

The hours of service will not change (10 a.m. to midnight Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Sunday). The total interior person capacity of the Liquor Primary licence will increase from 45 to 245 and the exterior person capacity will increase from 0 to 198. Unaccompanied minors will be allowed in licenced areas until 10 p.m. or for the duration of a private event.

Other changes

In the coming months, we will make a similar change at the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre by consolidating both licences into one Liquor Primary Licence, and eliminating the Food Primary Licence.

The change at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre will reduce the current licenced areas, while increasing the maximum occupant load. This change will bring our licences up to date with current regulations.

Residents located within a 0.8 kilometre radius of the facility are encouraged to contact the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch by mail or email with their questions, comments or concerns.
