Thank you for providing feedback on the Cadboro Bay Local Area Plan update housing options.

Saanich, BC – Recent public engagement to explore housing options in Cadboro Bay, including a housing workshop, online sessions and community survey, has been completed. Thank you to everyone who participated and shared feedback.

Community engagement sessions were held based on Council’s direction to assess options to integrate additional housing opportunities into the Draft Cadboro Bay Local Area Plan. The Workshop Summary Report and Community Survey Results are now available on the project webpage. The report and survey results provide a summary of public input and feedback on potential additional options for purpose-built rental housing and housing accessible to a broader range of incomes in the Cadboro Bay Village Neighbourhood.

As the next step in the Cadboro Bay Local Area Plan update process, a check-in report is scheduled to be brought before Council on Monday, August 22, 2022. The check-in report will include a summary of recent engagement activities and community feedback.

“Thank you for participating in the recent public engagement around housing in Cadboro Bay,” said Manager of Community Planning Cameron Scott. “We look forward to presenting community feedback to Council on August 22 and receiving further direction on how to move forward with completing the Cadboro Bay Local Area Plan update.”

The Council agenda will be posted on the webpage one week before the meeting. Written correspondence received up to noon on the day of the Council meeting will be copied to Council for their consideration and forms part of the public record. Comments to Council can be sent to council@saanich.ca.

Quick Facts:

• A multi-year process to update the Cadboro Bay Local Area Plan was initiated in 2018 and is in its final phases
• The Local Area Plan guides growth and change over the next 20-30 years and addresses things like land use, transportation, parks and environment.
• A Draft Cadboro Bay Local Area Plan was released in October 2021 for public review
• As per Council direction, the most recent phase of the project has focused on potential options to expand the Cadboro Bay Village to include more options for purpose built rental housing and housing accessible to a broader range of incomes
• Engagement between June and August 2022 included:
  • An in-person workshop attended by 120 people
  • Two online sessions attended by 172 people
  • A community survey completed by 874 people
