Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich has embarked on a process to develop a five-year economic development strategy that will create a vision for the local economy and provide specific actions to achieve economic resilience as well as a diverse and prosperous economy.

The plan will be created in three stages:

Stage 1: Analysis (Winter 2023): An analysis of the current situation including a review of current demographic and economic indicators and relevant District studies and reports, bylaws, and policies. A baseline report summarizing the analysis will be prepared and shared for review.

Stage 2: Consultation (Spring 2023): Conduct consultation with key industry sectors, stakeholder groups, and partner organizations. Engagement will include focus groups, interviews, surveys, and workshops.

Stage 3: Strategic Plan (Summer 2023): A draft economic development strategy will be prepared that will include Saanich’s top economic priorities for five years and include an action plan for implementation.

The draft economic development strategy will be presented at an open house to solicit public input and discussion.

An important part of the engagement process is gathering input and insights from residents about the priorities and goals for economic development in the community. This survey should take approximately 3 minutes to complete. Participants can enter a draw for one of three District of Saanich recreation gift cards!
