Expanding access to pickleball in Saanich parks

For immediate release

Saanich, BC – As demand for pickleball facilities continues to grow, the District of Saanich is offering opportunities for public input on Saanich’s short- and long-term plans for pickleball and tennis in our parks.

This follows the release of an independent regional Pickleball Strategy for Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay and Esquimalt earlier this year, which provides suggestions on managing this growth. It recommends various strategies and improvements to better manage play times, reservation and drop-in processes, setback distances and more — all in the name of enhancing the player experience and minimizing noise impacts for neighbours. In response, Saanich has refined the suggestions to match our understanding of the community’s needs.

Following last night’s successful open house, community members are now invited to provide feedback through a questionnaire on HelloSaanich.

Your input is important to us, and the information will inform park plans and future requests to Council for funding.
