For immediate release
Saanich, BC – Saanich’s proposed updated Official Community Plan (OCP) is headed to a public hearing in early 2024, providing another opportunity for residents to give their input on the plan.
Two online public information sessions will precede the public hearing. Dates and times for the information sessions and the public hearing will be posted online once finalized. The draft plan has also been posted so residents have ample time to review the information.
The Strategic OCP Update project was initiated in Spring 2022, with the intent to build on the current OCP and adopt a new OCP based on a focused scope of work. Since the last update of the OCP in 2008, several strategic plans and initiatives, such as the Climate Plan, Housing Strategy and Active Transportation Plan have been completed.
The updated OCP incorporates much of the work of these initiatives to provide a comprehensive growth framework that will guide land use change over the next 25 years and enable the District to meet housing needs, address Provincial housing targets and build a sustainable, livable community.
Residents are encouraged to stay tuned to Saanich’s website for more updates as we work through the process of adopting a new OCP.
