UPDATE: ‘Pilot’ Reopening of Rutledge Park Splash Pad

July 26, 2024

Information Bulletin
For immediate release

Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich will reopen the splash pad at Rutledge Park on a trial basis this weekend.

The Rutledge Park splash pad will run from its usual hours of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., but with some limited features and a reduced volume of water. This weekend trial run will help inform staff on whether the solutions put in place are feasible, and also whether any further technical adjustments can be made to improve the user experience in the short-term while they continue to pursue longer-term solutions. Staff are also in the process of obtaining some new fixtures that work with lower water flows, to help reinvigorate the fun!

Ongoing testing and monitoring to ensure proper functionality and fine-tune any potential issues may result in periodic disruptions to splash pad operations as needed. Operation of the splash pad is also weather-dependent, and with rain in the forecast on Monday there is a chance it could be closed that day.

Meantime, staff continue to investigate the situation at Beckwith Park and look at options to restore functionality at that splash pad.

We want to thank the public for their patience as we work through these issues. We continue to reach out to individuals who have booked permits to hold events and activities at these parks, offering alternate location options as well as refunds or account credits.

Please continue to visit our website and social media channels for the latest information on the situation at both splash pads.
