Update regarding electronic payment issues at Saanich recreation centres

Credit and debit purchases are intermittently unavailable
Due to circumstances beyond our control, Saanich recreation centres are having difficulties processing credit and debit card payments in person and by phone. We are working with our technology partners to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
This issue does not impact Saanich’s RecOnline registration system. Only in-person and phone payments are affected.
How does this affect recreation centre drop-in programs?
To ensure that you’re not disappointed when you visit a Saanich recreation centre:
- Remember, cash and cheque payments are accepted for all drop-in programs.
- You can see Saanich Recreation admission rates here
- Note that ATM services are not available at any Saanich recreation centre.
How might this affect Fall program registration?
As we approach the opening of Fall general registration on Wednesday, August 14, at 6:00 a.m., we strongly encourage you to register online via the RecOnline registration system.
If technical difficulties with in-person payments cannot be resolved by Wednesday, registering at a Saanich recreation centre or over the phone may be slower than normal. Again, online registrations will not be affected.
Here are some things you can do to make registration easier:
- Register online instead of in person or by phone.
- Review our RecOnline FAQ to ensure you are comfortable with the steps.
- Practice signing into your RecOnline account and remember the URL, saanich.ca/register.
- Consider a cash or cheque payment for your program(s) If you still plan on registering in person or by phone, to alleviate any potential issues with electronic payments.
