Local Area Plans are neighbourhood plans that are developed with extensive consultation with community members.
A local area plan identifies features of the community that are highly valued by citizens, and provides policy on how to protect and enhance them.
Local area plans form part of the Official Community Plan and provide a policy framework for Council by addressing issues such as land use, transportation, environment, urban design, housing, economic development, parks, climate change, and community amenities.
