Hours of work: All or part of one or more of the following shifts…

  • Mondays:
    • 8:00am – 1:00pm: January 13 – February 10, 2025
  • Tuesdays:
    • 1:00 – 3:00pm: Until March 11, 2025
    • *2:00 – 5:30pm: January 14 – February 4, 2025
  • Wednesdays:
    • 5:45am – 1:00pm: January 15 – February 5, 2025
  • Thursdays:
    • *6:00pm – 10:30pm: January 16 – February 6, 2025
  • Fridays:
    • *2:00pm – 5:00pm: January 17 – February 7, 2025
    • 5:30pm – 10:30pm: January 17 – February 7, 2025
    • 6:00pm – 9:00pm: Until March 14, 2025
    • 6:30pm – 10:00pm: Until March 14, 2025

*NOTE: These shifts require an Aquatic Instructor II / Lifeguard as they take place during lesson periods. They are scheduled as lifeguard shifts, but lifeguards may need to get in the water to teach in the event of multiple instructor absences that have not been covered. Lifeguard only staff from SCP are not eligible for these shifts unless they also hold a current Swim Instructor award. 

Description of work/program:

Gordon Head Recreation Centre is seeking temporary lifeguards and/or Aquatic Instructor II / Lifeguards to assist with pool supervision for up to four months beginning in the Winter 2025 scheduling period. Required qualifications include:

  • Current National Lifeguard Pool (or Waterpark) option award
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C award
  • Grade 10
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Aquatic Instructor II / Lifeguard: Above plus a current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor award.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Employment is subject to provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (PIC-VS) no older than 6 months.
