Description:

Gordon Head Recreation Centre is seeking certified Advanced Aquatics Instructors to deliver our lifesaving, first aid, lifeguard, and instructor training programs.

Instructor IIIs are responsible for the instruction of first aid, National Lifeguard, and instructor development courses. Aquatic Instructor IIIs are responsible for the instruction of lifesaving courses. Instructor IIIs and Aquatic Instructor IIIs provide direct instruction, leadership and program management as well as preparing course outlines and class content. These positions keep accurate attendance records and reports and maintain safe and clean work environments. Instructor IIIs and Aquatic Instructor IIIs ensure participants are taught according to safety and skill standards outlined by Saanich and certifying agencies.

Instructor III requirements include completion of Grade 10; any one of the following current awards: First Aid Instructor (Lifesaving Society or Canadian Red Cross), National Lifeguard Instructor, or a Lifesaving Society Trainer award in any stream; three months experience; and a satisfactory police information check with vulnerable sector check no older than 6 months. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including daytime, evenings, and weekends (hours/shifts are subject to change).

Aquatic Instructor III requirements include completion of Grade 12; a current Lifesaving Instructor award; six months teaching experience and a satisfactory police information check with vulnerable sector check no older than 6 months. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including daytime, evenings, and weekends (hours/shifts are subject to change).
