Description:

Saanich Commonwealth Place is seeking casual Building Service Workers to perform custodial care, cleaning and daily maintenance of municipal buildings and facilities.  The Building Service Worker I performs set-ups and take downs, routine cleaning (mop, dust, sweep, washrooms, stock, etc.), and building and equipment maintenance to HVAC and other mechanical systems. This position requires sound knowledge of custodial and maintenance procedures and experience with up-to-date cleaning methods, minor building and equipment repair, and the use, care and upkeep of the materials and equipment used. 

Requirements include Grade 11 or equivalent; Building Service Worker Level 1; WHMIS certification valid within 1 year; three months related experience; sufficient physical strength to perform the work and stamina to work varying shifts and satisfactory police information check with vulnerable sector check (PIC-VS).  Possession of hard floor and carpet care certification and Occupational First Aid Level I are considered assets. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidates will work varying shifts that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, up to maximum of 37.5 hours per week.
