The Water Resources Division of Saanich Engineering provides professional services for the management of the municipal sanitary sewer, potable water and storm drainage systems. We are recruiting up to two experienced civil engineering technologists (Level V) to join our fast-paced and diverse team. The ideal candidates are either experienced technologists or engineers-in-training. The successful candidate will work in the Infrastructure Design & Construction Section; a technical team that delivers the capital renewal program. The work of the Engineering Technician V involves performing civil engineering work at a semi-professional level including project scoping, preparing designs or managing designs prepared by consultants and delivering projects from the concept phase through to construction completion as the internal project manager; responding to public inquiries; providing technical support to internal construction crews; liaising with/making recommendations to the Engineering of Record regarding field design changes; mentoring junior staff and participating in intra or inter-departmental initiatives as representative for the team. The role works under the guidance of professional engineers in the team; is afforded an appropriate level of independence in completing work assignments and an extraordinary variation in work tasks that will expand your functional knowledge of municipal infrastructure management in local government setting. The successful candidates will possess a sound technical foundation, strong project management skills, are well organized, have strong communication skills and an appetite for learning.
Requirements include a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution; a minimum of 8 years of directly related experience; registered as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC; a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

qualifications will also be considered, such as a University Degree in a related field of Engineering and four (4) years of work experience, and eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC as an Engineer-In- Training.
The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week) and will be eligible for participation in the District’s modified work week program.
