The Finance Department at the District of Saanich is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to provide support to the organization in the preparation of the annual budget. The work involves providing advice on decision making processes related to the budget, analysis of programs and services and preparing monthly budget statements for management. The Financial Analyst also supports the Manager of Financial Planning with the preparation of cost benefit analysis for business cases and provides advice and recommendations in preparing the budget while ensuring adherence to current policies and guidelines.
As the ideal candidate, you will be proficient with public sector budgeting principles and practices; have knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and by-laws applicable to municipal financial operations; possess sound knowledge of computerized data processing systems and have proven ability to assist in developing, organizing, maintaining and improving a comprehensive budget and cost control program. With a proven track record with problem solving, you will possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. You will have a strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of staff to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Qualified applicants will have a professional accounting designation such as a CPA-CA, CPA-CGA or CPA-CMA. Experience will include four years directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
The successful applicant will work Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week) with flex days and a possibility of a modified work schedule. Occasional work from home is available depending on work assignments.
