Description:

The District of Saanich operates four recreation facilities (Cedar Hill Recreation Centre, Gordon Head Recreation Centre, G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre, and Saanich Commonwealth Place) and is seeking certified Fitness staff to ensure fitness equipment is in safe, working condition and participants act in accordance with facility rules.  Fitness staff will be responsible for providing leadership for fitness programs. This may include planning and preparing assigned programs; instructing assigned classes; evaluating participants; record keeping and public relations. 

Requirements for the Instructor III include completion of Grade 10; three months experience in fitness instruction; certification and training in area of instruction in accordance with Industry Standards; Emergency First-Aid and CPR “C”; and a Satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (PIC-VS) within 6 months.

Requirements for the Program Attendant II include completion of Grade 10; one month experience in weight room supervision; certification related to weight room supervision in accordance with Industry Standards; Emergency First-Aid and CPR “C”; and a Satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (PIC-VS) within 6 months.

Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends (hours/shifts are subject to change).
