Description:

Saanich Commonwealth Place is seeking multiple Lifeguards and Assistant Lifeguards.

Lifeguards who will be responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants in aquatic activities.  Lifeguards will ensure that participants act in accordance with facility rules and the facilities and equipment are in safe, working condition.  They also lead activities, games and events of interest to the users.

Requirements for this position include completion of Grade 10; Minimum age if 16 years old; current National Lifeguard Service certification (Waterpark Option); current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification – Level C with AED certification; current Standard First Aid Level 1 certification; over one month, up to and including three months experience; satisfactory police information check.

Assistant Lifeguards provide supplemental supervision of activities in the water while promoting a friendly and enjoyable recreational atmosphere.  This important role will also assist in emergency situations under the direction of a lifeguard or team leader. 

Requirements for this position include Minimum age of 15 years old; Bronze Cross (current within 2 years; and current Standard First Aid / CPRC (SFA/CPR-C) award.  Employment is subject to the provision of a satisfactory police information check with vulnerable sector check (PIC-VS).  Renewal of PIC-VS is required per policy.

Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends and nights (hours/shifts are subject to change).
