The Water Resources Division of Saanich Engineering provides GIS and surveying services for the greater Department, amongst other professional services. We are recruiting for a Surveyor to join our fast paced and diverse team.

Reporting to the Survey Services Manager, the Surveyor plans, organizes, and leads the work of the survey crew in performing engineering preliminary surveys, construction survey layout, quantity surveys, and much more! The successful candidate will operate all types of survey equipment at a proficient level; provide direction to the survey technician when undertaking surveying activities; process collected field data and produce topographic survey base plans in support of engineering designs. The Surveyor possesses sound technical foundation, strong project management skills, is well organized, and has strong communication skills. This position works both in the office and outside in both urban and rural environments in all types of weather conditions.

Requirements include: two-year diploma in Geomatics or Civil Technology; four years of experience in municipal and/or construction surveying; eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC), a valid Class 5 B.C. drivers licence; annual renewal of Driver’s Abstract; and sufficient health, physical conditioning, strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of work in all types of weather conditions. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
