The Storm and Wastewater Section is seeking Utility Operators II to coordinate and participate in the installation, repair, inspection and testing of the Storm and Wastewater systems. This work requires versatility, heavy lifting, and manual dexterity.
The Utility Operator II works on the wastewater and stormwater system; understands and follows best management practices to maintain water quality; performs a combination of tasks pertinent to installation, repair, upgrade and control of the operation of a stormwater distribution or wastewater collection system; assists with investigating and testing; operates various equipment related to excavation and pipeline installation.
Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; EOCP Level I Certification for Wastewater Collection or Water Distribution is considered an asset; two-years of pipefitting experience in water or wastewater systems; experience and/or training directing others; basic navigation skills of field based GIS software; Traffic Control Certificate; trained in confined space entry; annual renewal for Driver’s Abstract; and have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of heavy manual work in all types of weather. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The successful candidates will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week).
