Join us at Cadboro Bay for a day filled with live music, community drumming, delicious food, engaging kids' crafts, and informative interactive booths! This great annual event celebrates ocean recreation and sustainability. Cadboro Bay sees pleasure craft moorage, recreational ocean rentals and families swimming and playing on the beach, and somewhere in the depths of the Bay lurks the Cadborosaurus.

Getting to the Venue

There are lots of ways to get here! The event venue has a free bike valet run by The Locker, a shuttle stop, nearby BC Transit stops, and two vehicle parking lots. Details below.

Traffic Advisory: Ongoing Construction Areas

Due to the Sinclair Road Upgrades construction project, Sinclair Road will be closed between Lynnhurst Lane and Cadboro Bay Road. Access to the event will be via Arbutus and Cadboro Bay Road, or Cedar Hill X Road and Cadboro Bay Road. Sinclair from Cadboro Bay Road to Cadboro-Gyro Park remains open.

If you are walking or biking you may follow the designated walkway up or down Sinclair Road. Use caution as surfaces may be rough and uneven.

Bike Valet

No need to carry a bike lock! The Locker will be on-site with a free bike valet. Cruise up on your E bikes, cargo bikes, tricycles, daily commuters, pennyfarthings or unicycles to get the best parking at the event. The Locker will be stationed at the event site, and will be open from 11 am - 3 pm. 

Shuttles

Free shuttles offered by Wilsons Transportation will be running continuously throughout the day from UVic Parking Lot #5 to the Overflow Parking Lot. Shuttles can carry up to 24 passengers at a time.

The first shuttle trip will depart from UVic Parking Lot #5 at 11 am, and the final shuttle trip will depart from the Overflow Parking Lot at 3:45 pm.

BC Transit

The closes bus stops to the event venue are stop numbers 101117 (southbound) and 101126 (northbound), which stop on either side of the Cadboro Bay/Sinclair roundabout. Buses servicing these stops are on route 11. Once you disembark from the bus, simply walk down to the park! 

Alternatively, you can take the bus to the UVic Bus Exchange, walk to Parking Lot #5, and take the shuttle from there. 

Vehicle Parking

Parking will be limited, so please be patient if you choose to drive to the event. The main gravel parking lot is at Cadboro-Gyro Park, accessible via the park entrance at the end of Sinclair Road. We will also have an overflow lot in the field off of Cadboro Bay Road.

Activities for All Ages

  • FREE drop in drumming workshops with Hand Drum Rhythms! Workshops happening throughout the day, first-come, first-served. No prior registration needed.
  • Watch a live bubble demonstration by That Bubble Guy! Chase after giant bubbles as they float around the venue.
  • Face painting by Sparkle Shack Body Art. For a small fee, have your face beautifully decorated in a design of your choice.
  • FREE art activity, facilitated by local artist Natasha Van Netten

11:00 am -12:00 pm: Penny Belle

Penny Belle Music

Penny Belle is a soulful folk rock band that performs original songs in French and English with intricate vocal arrangements, harmonies and brass. Penny Belle's music is joyful, upbeat and fun for the whole family. Expect sing-alongs and deep thoughts! 

 

12:30 pm -1:30 pmHoss Mountain String Band

The Hoss Mountain Stringband is a dynamic bluegrass ensemble based in Victoria ,British Columbia. Formed through connections within the local bluegrass community, theband has become a staple in the region's music scene. Their repertoire features a mixofclassic standards, original compositions, and innovative arrangements that showcasetheir musicianship and passion for the genre.Their music is further influenced by their deep connections to old-time and swing. Featuring tight harmonies along with rapidfire pickin' and strummin', the band's charismatic stage presence invites the audience into a world of shared stories, laughter, and foot-stomping good times.

 

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm: The New Groovement

The New Groovement is a powerhouse funk, soul, and hip-hop band from Victoria, BC, known for their high-energy performances and infectious grooves. Since bursting onto the scene in 2011, they’ve captivated audiences with their dynamic blend of powerful vocals, tight rhythms, and vibrant horn arrangements. Their electrifying live shows have made them a West Coast festival favorite, with standout performances at events like Rifflandia, Victoria Ska and Reggae Festival, and Laketown Shakedown, as well as headlining slots at The Edge of the World Music Festival and Garden City Grooves. The New Groovement delivers a message of positivity and unity while keeping the dance floor packed.

Accessibility

Getting here: Please see the notes in the venue/how to get here section for information on parking, shuttles, buses, and bikes.

Surface conditions and grade: The Cadboro Bay Festival is at Cadboro-Gryo Park. There are paved walking paths throughout the park, playground areas on top of gravel and woodchips, and the majority of the park surface where the event takes place is grass. The Cadboro-Gyro Parking Lot is a gravel parking lot, and the overflow parking lot is set up on a grass field.

Washrooms: The public park toilets will be available for use (accesible washrooms with flush toilets), and there will be portable toilets at the event site (accessible units available). 

Noise: This event will have live, amplified music throughout the day. In between sets, there will be announcements from stage and recorded music. 

Food and beverage: Food offerings will include vegetarian and gluten free offerings. As all food will be provided by local food vendors, Saanich cannot verify or clarify specific allergen or dietary questions. Please confirm with the food vendors directly to verify.

Weather: This event is fully outdoors and will run rain or shine.
