Remuneration for members of Saanich Council is paid in accordance with the Council Remuneration and Expenses Policy.
Remuneration is adjusted annually on the first pay date in June. The amounts of the remuneration are based on the average of the remuneration of Council members in other municipalities of comparable size, including Abbotsford, Delta, Kamloops, Kelowna, Langley, Nanaimo, North Vancouver and Victoria.
Council members are also eligible for dental, extended health benefits through the District’s benefit provider. These benefits are cost shared with Saanich.

Expenses
In accordance with the Council Remuneration and Expenses Policy, eligible expenses are paid when incurred while Council members attend certain conferences and seminars on behalf of the municipality.
Reporting
Council remuneration and expenses are reported annually in the Statement of Financial Information.
Members of Council must submit a Statement of Financial Disclosure by January 15 each year to comply with the BC Financial Disclosure Act.

External Boards and Committees
Some members of Council may also serve on other Boards and Committees, including the Capital Regional District (CRD). Some of those appointments are paid positions with remunerations administered by those other organizations.
