There are many ways to enjoy your favourite racquet sports in Saanich recreation centres and parks! From a beginner's first swing to advanced competitive play, there's something for everyone.

Tennis

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned tournament player, you can access tennis programs year-round in one of our four indoor tennis courts or at one of our 20 outdoor tennis court locations. Cedar Hill Recreation Centre indoor tennis courts are open seven days a week and offer:

  • Court rentals
  • Private lessons
  • Junior and adult tennis tournaments (on hold at this time)
  • Group Adult and Junior lessons resuming in September

Reserving a Court

You must reserve a court two days in advance by calling Cedar Hill Recreation Centre at  250-475-7121 starting at 9:30am. Courts are available during Cedar Hill Recreation Centre facility hours. 

Please note: Tennis court rental payments are due at the time of booking. Doubles play is permitted (maximum of 4 players per court).

Court Cancellation Policy

Please be sure to cancel at least 12 hours prior to playing time. Regular court fees will be charged for cancellation or no-show within 12 hours of playing time.

Lessons

Please note that Cedar Hill Recreation Centre is fully booked for Private/Semi-Private Tennis lessons. Contact Nathan Bailey at 250-475-7129 to be placed on a waitlist for the next available coach.

Semi-private (2 - 4 people)
  • 1 hour: $80
  • 1 hour: $90
  • 6 hours: $400

Squash

Cedar Hill Recreation Centre is home to the Cedar Hill Squash Club and its four international squash courts.

Play squash in one of our four courts

  • Cedar Hill Squash Club members may book up to two days in advance.
  • Non-members may book up to one day in advance.
  • No spectators are permitted at this time.
  • To book, call 250-475-7121
  • Court rentals are $29 per 45 minutes.
  • 10x passes are available for $116.
  • Junior Drop-in runs on Sundays from 10:15-11:45am for $4.25 per participant.
  • Solo court rentals may only be booked on the same day.

Membership

Courts at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre operate under a joint-use agreement between Saanich and the Cedar Hill Squash Club.

Badminton

Book a badminton court at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre or join in on reserved drop-in play at Saanich Commonwealth Place.

Pickleball

There are many ways to enjoy this fast-growing sport in Saanich! Indoor pickleball court rentals are available at Saanich Commonwealth Place and Cedar Hill and G.R. Pearkes recreation centres.

Pickleball play is also available at select centres as a reserved drop-in activity. Enjoy pickleball play outside at one of six different outdoor court locations featuring a total of 12 shared and two dedicated courts.

  • $23.50 per hour ($35.25 per 1.5 hour session)

Table Tennis

Cedar Hill Recreation Centre 

  • Reserved drop-in
  • Reservation may be booked 7 days prior to session at 7:30am.
  • Supervised, no instruction
  • Sessions take place:
    • Mondays 7-9pm (8yrs+)
    • Wednesdays 2:30-4pm, 4-5:30pm (55yrs+ ONLY)
    • Fridays 4-5:15pm, 5:15-6:30pm (8yrs+)
  • Please note: An adult must accompany participants under the age of 10.

Outdoor Tennis and Pickleball Courts

  • First-come, first-serve
  • Follow posted courtesy rules of play
  • We post reservation times for school groups and lesson times on-site
  • Reserve a court for a school group by completing a park permit application.

Outdoor court etiquette
Outdoor courts for tennis and pickleball are first-come, first-serve. Playing time is 30 minutes while others are waiting.
