If you have the need for a temporary building then you will need a building permit.
A temporary building project types include, but are not limited to;
- temporary vehicle storage, while building a new garage
- temporary storage of goods
- temporary buildings for a special event
Temporary buildings by their very nature are not meant to be on your property for very long.
Since these buildings are used for a specific purpose for a defined period of time, they may not need to meet all of the Building Code requirements of a permanent building.
Application: Temporary Building
A complete application includes:
- Five complete sets of plans. Plans should include a site plan showing the proposed location and as many details of the temporary building as you are able to provide.
- Completed application form. The form must include the time frame you require the building for. The maximum time period is one year.
- Describe the use of the building.
- Current certificate of title dated within 30 days plus copies of any encumbrances registered against the parcel (Covenants, Rights-of-Way).
- Owner signature or if you’re not the owner, an Agent's Authorization from the owner.
